Firm Overview

Markotsis & Lieberman is a general practice law firm formed in July, 1990. The firm consists of its two partners, James C. Markotsis and Douglas M. Lieberman, an associate, George Neofitos, and an experienced support staff. Our goal is to provide all of our clients high quality legal services at reasonable rates without sacrificing personal attention. Indeed, every matter that is handled by our firm receives the personal attention of one of the partners.

James C. Markotsis is a 1986 graduate of the Hofstra University School of Law. Mr. Markotsis is admitted in New York and Connecticut, as well as the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association. Mr. Markotsis has lectured at the Nassau Bar Association and has authored articles published in the Nassau Lawyer, the monthly legal publication of the Nassau County Bar Association, concerning real estate transactions, including "So You Want To Do A House Closing? Practical Tips For Representing A Buyer." He is active in his church and other local organizations.

Douglas M. Lieberman is also 1986 graduate of the Hofstra University School of Law, where he was an Articles Editor of the Hofstra Labor Law Journal. Mr. Lieberman, a current Associate Editor and former Co-Editor-in-Chief of Nassau Lawyer, has authored articles entitled "NY's Long-Arm Reach On The Web,""Fore! Is a Golfer Liable for his Lousy Shots?" and "Golf Course Liability to Adjoining Homeowners" published in Nassau Lawyer; a Note published in the Hofstra Labor Law Journal; and revised a chapter entitled "The Mechanics of Beginning" in the treatise Art of Advocacy - Preparation of the Case. Decisions in matters handled by Mr. Lieberman have been published and noted. Mr. Lieberman is admitted in New York and New Jersey, as well as the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association and the Jewish Lawyers Association. He is also active in his synagogue, being a member of its Board of Trustees since 2001 and a member of various committees.

George Neofitos is a 1996 graduate of Brooklyn Law School. Before joining Markotsis & Lieberman, he was an associate at one of the larger law firms on Long Island, concentrating on corporate law. Mr. Neofitos has represented both individuals and entities in a variety of commercial and real estate matters, both simple and complex, including the purchase and sale of various types of businesses and properties as well as litigation. Mr. Neofitos is admitted in New York and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association.
